About The Visit

A delegation from the IT and telecom sector, led by the honorable Mr. Umar Saif, Pakistan’s Minister of IT and Telecom, recently visited Saudi Arabia to engage with their counterparts. The main agenda was to explore opportunities and attract investment from both the public and private sectors of Saudi Arabia into Pakistan’s burgeoning IT and telecom industry, which holds immense potential. Discussions also included investments in 5G technology. This visit has proven highly successful and promises to usher in new horizons of collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

ITCN Asia 2023

A Milestone for Mobile Phone Manufacturing in Pakistan.

For the first time The ITCN Asia

which took place in the Karachi Expo Centre from August 30 to September 2nd, 2023, had a significant influence on the promotion of domestic mobile phone manufactures in Pakistan. This year’s exhibition included the debut of the Mobile Phone Pavilion, showcasing the nation’s technological prowess. One of the most noteworthy aspects of this year’s ITCN Asia was the participation of 13 license holders who took the stage for the first time. This signaled a new era of collaboration and innovation within the Pakistani telecom sector. Additionally, the event saw the active involvement of 25 local and international brands, including tech giants like Samsung Mobile, Nokia, Infinix, Vivo, Oppo, Sparx, Itel, Techno, Xiaomi and many others. Their presence underscored their commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s tech industry. This landmark event was made possible through the cooperation of the Ministry of Information Technology and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.

The collaboration between these government bodies and the private sector was pivotal in driving forward the agenda of promoting locally manufactured products. Honorable Dr. Umar Saif, the Minister of IT & Telecom, played a pivotal role in spearheading this initiative. Dr. Saif, along with his dedicated team, Mr. Faysal Ratyal (DG Telecom) Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar (PTA) visited the Mobile phone Pavilion and engaged in fruitful discussions with industry stakeholders. Their commitment to addressing industry challenges and bridging gaps was evident.

A significant development during the event was Dr. Umar Saif’s chairing of a meeting with mobile phone manufacturers. During this session, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the industry’s growth and development. He vowed to work closely with manufacturers to address industry-specific challenges, ensuring a conducive environment for sustainable growth. The overarching objective of ITCN Asia 2023 was to strengthen the telecom industry in Pakistan and promote “Made in Pakistan” products globally. This event provided a unique platform for industry players to showcase their innovative solutions and forge collaborations. It also served as a testament to the government’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for technology companies to thrive. The Pakistan Mobile Phone Manufacturers Association expresses gratitude to all stakeholders for their role in the success of ITCN Asia 2023. With 33 dedicated members, the association is committed to strengthening local mobile manufacturing, fostering economic growth, and advancing Pakistan’s technological capabilities. Together, they aim to make a lasting, positive impact on the nation’s economy and tech sector.
